Prometheus sequel set for 2014

It must have been a long time since anyone has said no to Ridley Scott, his become one of those directors who gets whatever he wants, when he wants. So it is no surprise that Scott's epic summer blockbuster Prometheus is getting a sequel, despite its massive plot holes and its annoying plot threads. It has been revealed today by The Hollywood Reporter that Ridley Scott is pushing forward plans for a sequel for a release in 2014 or 2013. However Prometheus writer Damon Lindlelof may not return to untangle the first films thread as it has been revealed that Scott and Fox productions are looking for new writers for a sequel. This could be due to Lindlelof's commitments to other projects such as the Star Trek sequel with J.J. Abrams. As well as his participation in redoing large amounts of the World War Z script featuring Brad Pitt.

Whatever the reason for the new writer it doesn't seem to have effected Scott much as he has confirmed he knows exactly where the story is going with a possible title of Paradise for the sequel. It's clear that Scott's mind has been brimming with ideas since releasing Alien back in the 1980s but this could have been a reason why Prometheus has holes and had problems, such as what the hell happened to Fifield and Holloway? And what was the story with the Engineers? And what was the Alien at the end? All these could be tide together in the sequel which will no doubt feature Noomi Rapace's Elizabeth Shaw and Michael Fassbender's David discovering where the engineers come from. Despite the flaws that Prometheus had in abundance it was one of the most ambitious science fiction films of the last decade and it was nice to discover something new in the Alien universe which had been raped by the likes of Alien vs Predator and the horrendous Alien: Resurrection. Whatever Scott's Paradise has to offer I'm sure there will be a lot more questions then there will be answers.

  1. Prometheus was insane! Michael Fassbender is one of my favourite actors! Seriously can't wait for the next one!
