The first pictures from auteur film director Terrence Malick's new film. Knight of Cups, have been released this week to tie in with the Cannes Film Festival, in hope it will entice some investors for the film. In true Malick fashion, nothing is clear from the image just Bale and Portman on a beach, frolicking in the sea. Much like the photos, the synopsis is as a opaque as you would expect from a Malick film, with IMDB stating "A man, temptations, celebrity, and excess." Expect more Tree of Life and To the Wonder kind of narrative. Malick seems to be churning out a fair amount of films now after his break of six years between The New World and The Tree of Life. Set to hit our screens sometime at the end of this year and with a cast consisting of Christian Bale, Natalie Portman, Cate Blanchett and Antonio Banderas, you can expect some investors at Cannes will be more than a little interested in this film.
