With Guillermo Del Toro's latest film, Pacific Rim, hitting the cinemas this summer, the director was at the Los Angeles Times Hero Complex Festival on Saturday promoting his new blockbuster. Though he took five minutes out to discuss his future project, Justice League Dark. Del Toro has expressed his desire to adapt DC's darker series which concentrates on the likes of John Constantine, Swamp Thing, Zatanna, Deadman and Madame Xanadu. We've seen the likes of John Constantine grace our screens before back in 2005 with Keanu Reeves playing the tortured soul, although it wasn't the outing comic book fans were hoping for. But in the hands of a director like Del Toro, who is one of the most visually talented directors working in Hollywood at the moment.

The director told the press if Warners said yes to the script then he would go ahead with it. If Warners say yes to Del Toro then we could be in for a real treat. All of the director's canon has been visually rich with a distinct look and his already exhibited his ability to bring a comic book favourite to life in his two Hellboy films. Although its not difficult to see Warners' qualms with green lighting a film like this, in a time when superhero films have never been more popular it could prove tricky to sell a much darker film then the family friendly superhero flicks Marvel have been churning out. Hopefully this doesn't just become another Del Toro project that never got to see the light of day because the director could work some real magic with this material.
