In recent years wrestler The Rock has gone from strengthen to strengthen, all you need to do is look at the girth of the man's arms to realize that. Gone are the days of unwanted sequels like The Mummy 2, now days his the man that people bring in to breath some fresh air in other wise dying franchises. This is evident in the Fast and Furious franchise that pleased both the critics and the normal cinema going audiences with a transformation from street racing to bank heisting. Despite producers hopes and his best attempts, he couldn't revitalize a unoriginal and dying franchise.
But it seems that The Rock has caught the eye of Marvel head honcho Kevin Feige who said "“His name has come up in the past. I’m a gigantic fan of his. I
think he’s incredible. I might have met him once a long time ago, but I
haven’t really met him. I don’t really know him, but I think he’s an unbelievable
personality and an unbelievable sort of force of nature. He’s awesome in
PAIN & GAIN. He was great in G.I. JOE. He’s really kind of an amazing human being. His Twitter’s always
cool and he promotes the hell out of everything he does. I would love
him to be part of the Marvel universe somewhere, someday.” Its not the first time The Rock's name has been linked with Marvel or DC projects over the last few years, with many fans guessing he will play such characters as Shazam, Captain Marvel and the Sub-Mariner. You can understand Feige's interest in the actor, with an upper body that fierce he could easily play anyone in the Marvel canon. Although he isn't currently linked to any Marvel projects it wouldn't be surprising if The Rock grazed our screen in the Marvel cinematic universe.
