One of the surprise blockbuster hits of recent years, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, breathed fresh air into a dormant franchise. The last time we saw the apes before Rupert Wyatt's reboot, was Tim Burton's take on the classic science fiction story back in 2001. Burton's take seemed like a complete misfire, it sits uncomfortably with the classic stories. Now Matt Reeves (Cloverfield and Let Me In) has taken charge with the sequel, which is set to star the likes of Gary Oldman and Andy Serkis returns as leader of the apes, Caesar. Set a decade on from the first film and centres around a small group of scientists trying to find a cure for humanity. Set to be released on May 23rd 2014, we won't have to wait long.
